Therapeutic Approach

Lara, LMHC, provides therapy to both couples and individuals. She works with a variety of concerns and specializes in fertility, perinatal, and early parenthood issues, as well as toxic and abusive relationships, including narcissistic abuse.

Her approach is integrative, blending the wisdom of Psychodynamic Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In her work with couples, Lara uses an attachment lens to inform her practice, employing the renowned Gottman Method and Relational Life Therapy. Having completed Gottman Levels I and II, Lara is an approved Gottman Connect provider who utilizes the research-based Gottman Relationship Checkup in her initial assessment with couples.

In Lara's therapeutic space, you will find a non-judgmental, empathetic, and warm environment where clients can safely explore their emotions and experiences, allowing them to heal, grow, and thrive.

BACKGROUND

Born and raised in Scotland, Lara is dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges. She leans into the power of building meaningful connections, whether that be with oneself or others, and uses both life experience and her Master’s level training from Northwestern University to empower people to find healing, contentment, and purpose within their lives.

Outside of the therapy room, Lara revels in the chaos and beauty of family life. Blending cultures from three continents, she navigates the joys and challenges of parenthood, which includes not only the pitter-patter of little human feet but also furry paws, thanks to her ever-enthusiastic canine companion. These experiences in her personal life underscore her commitment to embracing and valuing culture and diversity in her work with clients.
